Burnt Toast
Where does one start? That is the question ! Well I will keep this simple, or at least I will try. I like art...I like being creative....I like a challenge. Painting on wine bottles sounded creative and drilling a hole through the bottle sounded challenging, so I decided to try my hand at it. I had to do a little research on drill bits that cut through glass. With my cordless drill the process was long and a bit difficult; I decided it would be a whole lot easier to use my dad's drill press. That was another challenge. He didn't mind me using his press; he just wasn't buying the "drilling through the glass bottle" part. It always builds my confidence when I get to show my dad something new. I showed him that I had done my research and that it would work and we started drilling. It worked alot more effectively than my cordless drill and a whole lot faster. My dad always seems to be one up on me, so for Christmas I got what every girl dreams of...my own drill press. I started collecting bottles and painting them.
I'm sure some may wonder how I came up with "burnt toast"? Well that is "A God Thing". I wanted a creative name. I didn't want to call them wine bottle lamps, or anything ordinary that would just describe them. I wanted something interesting. The best thing I knew to do was pray about the name, so I did. In the middle of my prayer, I smelled something burning and had to stop the prayer and grab the toast. Came back and finished my prayer and then a few minutes later I decided that was God answering my prayer. So I decided to call it "Burnt Toast".
On these pages are examples of some of the bottles I have painted. It is not inclusive...sometimes I forget to make pictures. I also try new designs all of the time. They all come with miniature lights inside. The cord goes through a drilled hole in the back sealed with a rubber grommet. The lights are replaceable.
